Haiti - Tourism : Hilton will build a hotel in Haiti
Thursday, the Groupe CAB S.A, the owner of the Visa Lodge hotel in Haiti represented by Dominique F. Carvonis, the Group President and Hilton Worldwide company, represented by Ted Middleton, Vice President Development Hilton World Wide for America, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction of a "Hilton Garden Inn" hotel in Port-au-Prince. This hotel whose the start of work is scheduled for July will include 152 rooms over 11 floors and cost 26 million U.S. dollars. The Hilton Garden Inn is the only hotel conveniently located less than 2 km from the Toussaint Louverture International Airport.

Scheduled for 2016, the opening of this hotel will open the franchise "Hilton Garden Inn" in the Caribbean and will be the first hotel of the company in Haiti. This hotel will have include: a business center, a fitness center, an outdoor pool, a restaurant, flexible meeting spaces and common areas, all will be equipped with internet access 24/24.



Prime Minister Lamothe congratulated the Groupe CAB S.A and Hilton Worldwide for the signing of this MoU. According to the Head of Government, the construction of this new standard hotel proves once again that the country is open for business "Thanks to the efforts of my Government, the country is safer than before and that proves to the world that Haiti has become a better place to do business and we expect a lot more investors like Hilton Worldwide [...] I would like to thank Mr. Middleton for believing that Haiti is a good place to do business [...] Haiti is moving forward and we need more investments of this type, more people like you to give us a chance [...] today we show to the world that Haiti is a better place [...] the Hilton brand in Haiti a significant sign that Haiti is advancing and progressing [...]", promising the support of his Government at all levels of this project.

Speaking on behalf of Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries, Ms. Jessy Menos, Secretary of State for Tourism congratulated the initiators of this project. "The tourism sector is in full evolution. At the Ministry, we bend over backwards to bring visitors and we are happy to see that the private sector followed suit."

Ted Middleton, Vice President of Development, Hilton Worldwide, said he was pleased with the growth of "Hilton Garden Inn" in the world "We are very excited about the opening of this hotel in Port-au-Prince that will give not less than 100 direct jobs and 300 indirect jobs in the country [...] We are pleased to have the support of the Haitian Government in achieving this hotel, that comes enlarge the great Hilton Worldwide family."

For its part, Dominique F. Carvonis has affirmed that the joint efforts of CAB S.A. will benefit to the environment in the industrial area. "Thanks to the comprehensive training of Hilton Worldwide hotel, we will have qualified human resources that will contribute to raising the standards of quality of service provided to our customers, which in the long run, increase the prestige of our beloved Haiti."

The Hilton Garden Inn Port-au-Prince Airport, will be the latest of the hotel chains to settle in Haiti, in addition to the hotel facilities including the Haitian NH El Rancho, Oasis, Best Western and Marriott International.
