Haiti - Justice : Warning to receivers...
Jean Renel Sanon, the Minister of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), in a reminder note, dated Thursday, April 17, said found with amazement that despite the wanted persons notice that some offenders are subject, some people take the risk to help them.

The Ministry of Justice, reminds them that such behavior is punishable by Haitian criminal law and promised that the houses involved in acts of receiving (actes de recel) will be sealed and the vehicles seized.

Reminder note of Minister Sanon :

"Port-au-Prince April 17, 2014

Reminder note

The Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), noted with amazement that despite the wanted persons notice that some offenders are subject, individuals with bad intentions take the risk to accommodate them in their home, either in bad faith or ignorance or irresponsibility. They even dare to transport them onboard their vehicles from one point to another.

MJSP reminds them that such behavior makes them accomplices likely to be prosecuted with the utmost rigor for harboring criminals (recel de malfaiteurs) and in accordance with the provisions of the Haitian Penal Code.

Seal will be put on all the houses involved and vehicles used for transportation will also be seized.

So that no one ignore or pretext the ignorance, the MSPJ believes appropriate to recall that the Haitian law identifies as 'receivers' (receleur) anyone who amuses himself by hide criminals from justice and the police, who offers his house as a place of accommodation to fugitive offenders or who transports people fleeing the police or the mandates of judges.

While inviting citizens to cooperate with the law, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security reaffirms its determination to fight against crime and, in all its forms.

Jean Renel Sanon
Minister"
