Haiti - Culture : Celebration with the Haitian Diaspora in Suriname

For its 50th edition of the "Avondvierdaagse" [4daagse], the largest annual cultural and sporting event in Suriname, over 5,000 participants for 4 days (from 23 to 26 April 2014), parading by walking and dancing on courses of km to 15km through the various neighborhoods of Paramaribo (capital of Suriname), in a musical atmosphere, in fancy dress and folk, amidst a festive crowd.

For the first time this year, the Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti and the Haitian youth group of Suriname "Unity Makes Strength" proudly represented our country, its beauty, its colors, its music and the dances of Haiti this important parade, which brings together all the ethnic groups that comprise the Surinamese population and that celebrate in their own way, health (by walking) and cultural diversity of their country.

Alex Jospitre, the Consul General of Haiti in Suriname, promised this year, he would ensure that "4daagse" organized under the auspices of the Athletic Association of Suriname (BVSS) has a Caribbean touch whose only the Haitians have the secret. Promise kept and the Haitian diaspora of Suriname, were proudly at the height of this mission...

The Consul Jospitre did not fail to thank the organizers, sponsors and all members of the Haitian community in Suriname, who believed in the dream and worked for its materialization.
