Haiti - Social : France rewards Michèle Oriol

Thursday at the Residence of France in Port-au-Prince, Michèle Oriol, sociologist and Executive Secretary of the Interministerial Committee for Planning, was decorated with the insignia of Officer of the Order of Agricultural Merit by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic French to the Republic of Haiti, Patrick Nicoloso in the presence of forty guests, mostly relatives of Mrs. Oriol.

In his remarks for the occasion Ambassador Nicoloso declared "

You are therefore, dear Michèle, a researcher, fully invested in archives and old documents, a thinking woman participating in the development of strategies for development and a woman of action who has agreed to descend into the arena of politics [...] the decoration that I am about to give you today, was established in 1883. It recognizes and rewards the merits of those who have at heart to develop the land, by knowledge of agricultural practices but also a vision of regional planning, their economy and their development for the benefit of those who are occupants and custodians.

Know dear Michèle, your commitment and quality of your actions cause admiration and we are proud and touched of the links that unite you and your relationship with the francophone world and particularly with France."
