Haiti - Health : Inauguration of the Hospital and the Haitian Institute for Rehabilitation in Bon Repos
On Monday, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by his wife Mrs. Sophia Martelly, proceeded to the inauguration of the Community Hospital of Bon Repos and the inauguration of the Haitian Institute of Rehabilitation Gérard Léon. These wo new facilities have received funding from the Brazilian government under the tripartite cooperation Brazil-Cuba-Haiti.

The Community Hospital of Bon Repos, built in strict compliance with international norms and standards, with an area of ​​4,248 m2 and a capacity of 52 beds, this modern hospital offers 4 basic services: Medicine, Surgery / Orthopaedics , Pediatrics, Obstetrics-Gynecology and specialized consultations. It is called to serve among other things, the communes of Ganthier, Croix-des-Bouquets, Fonds Parisien, Fonds Verrettes, Cabaret, Arcahaie, Canaan, Cornillon/Grand-Bois. This structure will soon be replicated in Beudet then in Arcachon 32.



For its part, the Haitian Institute of Rehabilitation Gérard Léon, is the first public center of its kind in the history of Haiti. It is the result of a partnership of at least two ministries: the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Social Affairs, through the Office of the Secretary of State [Gérald Oriol Jr.] for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (BSEIPH).



The inauguration ceremony was held, in the presence of Dr. Florence D. Guillaume, Minister of Public Health and Population, Ms. Nirva Bruno, Mayor of Croix des Bouquets, of Representatives of International Organizations involved in the field of health in Haiti, Members of the Government and countries representatives of the tripartite cooperation Brazil / Cuba / Haiti.

The Head of State expressed thanks and gratitude of the Haitian people to Cuban and Brazilian governments for their support to Haiti saying "This synergy of actions that I advocate in my Administration, should enable us to obtain best results in our services to the population."

First Lady Sophia Martelly recalled the role of the community hospital in strengthening the capacity of health facilities in the country. She also stressed that the construction of health facilities, "is the best way to pay tribute to all those who have contributed to improving the quality of health care in Haiti." The Haitian Institute for Rehabilitation Gérard Léon also marks, accrding to here "a milestone in the framework of the efforts of the Administration Martelly, to improve the quality of health care across the country."

For her part, the Minister Guillaume praised the dynamism of the First Lady of the Republic, which has always supported the struggle for access to health care to the population stating that "These health centers come to end the exclusion for people with special needs."

Cuban Health Minister Roberto Morales Ojeda and the Brazilian Ministry of Health, Ademar A. Chioro Dos Reis, recalled the support of their country to Haiti following the earthquake of January 12, 2010, which caused a significant increase in the number of disabled persons in the country and renewed the spirit of solidarity and humanism that has always characterized relations between their countries and Haiti.
