Haiti - Security : Enhanced security in the Great North and the metropolitan area

Tuesday at a special meeting at the Primature, in order to strengthen the security apparatus in the Great North and the metropolitan area of ​​Port-au-Prince in order to ensure a calm atmosphere in the country, the Superior Council of National Police (CSPN), adopted the following decisions :

  • The sending of additional 30 police officers near the Industrial Development Company (CODEVI) in Ouanaminthe and the entrance to the town of Caracol ;

  • The delivery on May 15, of 15 vehicles (pick-up) and 20 motorcycles to the police, in execution of new security plan for the metropolitan area ;

  • The establishment of the list of police officers, which should receive a salary increase while waiting the vote on the draft Finance Act revised by the Senate ;

  • The visit Thursday, May 8 at CODEVI and the Caracol Industrial Park of a delegation of CSPN composed of Ministers of justice, defense, the Director General of the National Police, the Secretary of State for Public Security and a representative of the Embassy of the United States, to meet with local authorities.

"As President of CSPN, I intends to put the resources available to the PNH for it to properly perform its task with professionalism [...] I support the efforts of the PNH and I am determined to track down the bandits, kidnappers and drug dealers where they hide," declared Laurent Lamothe.
