As part of initiatives aimed at paid a well deserved tribute to teachers on the occasion of the National Teachers' Day, celebrated on May 17 every year, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by Nesmy Manigat, Minister of Education national, Denis Cadeau, Director General of Minstry participated Friday at the Ritz Kinam to the ceremony of homage to 40 Haitian teachers of Departmental Directorates of Education and 9 other personalities at the national level for their commitment, discipline and dedication in the development of education in Haiti over the past 50 years.

In the presence of various students, school representatives, union members, Principals of schools, teachers, parents and friends of the personalities honored, the Head of State reminded the community of the importance of the teacher within the educational activity "Educational staff has my full attention. We work at the level of government for the effective raising at all levels of this socio-professional category of the Republic [...] It contribute, by transmitting his knowledge to project society of tomorrow. True craftsman of the socio-educative link, the teacher is a promoter of the liberating potential practices and human capacity," while stressing that education he wants for his country should prepare people for the future.

The President of the Republic took the opportunity to express great respect for these people who "are known for their tenacity, their performance and reliability of their work," promising to work towards the strengthening of programs of continuing education for teachers, support programs to develop strong links between teacher training, professional development, the school needs and provide support to regulated institutions that offer programs of initial training in science education.

Nesmy Manigat, son of two teachers, now retired, said he is well placed to understand the course of the teacher and the difficulties associated with this occupation. For him, honor teachers for their work, translates well the new dynamics of work engaged with the teacher corporation for the improvement of their working condition. "This allows to reaffirm the need to strengthen the dialogue with all social partners in education," emphasizing the need for all Haitians to be in solidarity with education in Haiti "The MENFP invites all teachers to make a beam to protect the Haitian school," concluded Minister Manigat.
