Following the request of Dr. Marie Claude Calvin, President of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Sustainable Development and Integrated of Marmelade (FONDDIM), the Government of Taiwan (Republic of China) through its Embassy in Haiti, decided to finance (signature of a grant agreement) under optimal conditions, the reopening of the natural juice plant of Marmelade, enlarged and equipped with new equipment since its inception in 2003.

Remember that this manufacturing plant of fruit juices (orange, chadèque, pineapple), is part of the agro-industrial complex of Marmelade, established in 2000 with technical and financial support of the Taiwanese cooperation which also includes a manufacturing unit of bamboo furniture, a coffee processing unit for export and a dairy.

The reopening of this plant will help ensure the purchase of crops from farmers and producers of local fruits and promote job creation in rural areas, the protection of the Waterhouse of Marmelade by promoting anti-erosion and perennial crops such as citrus, coffee, bamboo, pineapple and their transformation into finished products with high added value.

Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) Hwang-Tsai Chiu, reiterated at the signing ceremony, the Taiwanese government solidarity with the Haitian people and the determination of his country to support him in the agricultural development.
