Haiti - Health : Sophia Martelly visited Saint-Marc

The First Lady of the Republic, Sophia Martelly, went this week in Saint-Marc in the Artibonite, where she visited the Foundation Esther Bourcicault Stanislas (FEBS), led by Mrs. Esther Bourcicault Stanislas and the Diabetes Info Centre (CIDIA), led by Carole Lebrun Aarons.

Very active in the health sector, the First Lady pays special attention to the prevention and provides support to various initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Public Health and Population. During these visits, where she was warmly welcomed, Sophia Martelly welcomed the commitment of both St-Marcoises, which have engaged in the health sector and make a difference in their community.

Mrs. Stanislas of the FEBS, took the opportunity to recall that AIDS is no longer a barrier to active participation of citizens in the development of his community and invited the population in general, especially those who are close to People Living with HIV (PLHIV) to provide them help and support noting that "AIDS does less harm, that the stigmatization whose the PLHIV are victims."

In CIDIA a Centre whose mission is to educate, inform and treat people with diabetes, Ms. Martelly donated treatment equipment and of foot care for people suffering from this disease in Haiti.
