Haiti - Technology : Towards the development of renewable energy

Within the framework of Project of reconstruction of infrastructure and access to energy, the World Bank and Electricité de France (EDF), organized in partnership with the regional community, a 3-days visit for a Haitian delegation to exchange and explain the strategy that has facilitated the development of renewable energy in the archipelago of Guadeloupe, which has long been at the forefront in this area.

The 12-memebers delegation, whose 4 representative of the World Bank (WB) is composed among others of : Errol Morose, the Director General of Electricity of Haiti (EDH), Senator William Janty, of the Senate Committee "infrastructure", Jules-André Joseph, Coordinator of the Energy Unit at the Ministry of Public Works, Pierre Bonneau, Manager at BM, of Infrastructure Projects for Haiti and Migara Jayawardena Manager at the World Bank of the Energy geothermal for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Program of the delegation :

Saturday, June 14 :

8:30 am: Visit of the dispatching center EDF (Bergevin)

10:30 am: Visit of the Lycée Polyvalent Nord Grande-Terre (Port Louis)

11:45 am: Visit of a photovoltaic plant on the ground

3:00 pm: Visit of the bagasse-coal power plant (Gardel, Moule)

4:30 pm: Visit of the wind farm Fonds Caraïbes (Moule)

Sunday, June 15 :

10:00 am: Visit of the Central Geothermal in Bouillante

11:45 am: Visit of the biomass and biogas power plant of Bologna

Note that since the earthquake of January 2010, EDF Archipel Guadeloupe has developed close relations with the EDH (donation of equipment, staff training, expertise missions).
