Haiti - Security : The PHN celebrated its 19 years

Thursday, at the National Police Academy, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe also Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Haiti National Police (CSPN), Godson Orélus, Director General of the PNH, he Presidents of both Houses of Parliament, Simon Dieuseul Desras and Jacques Timoleon (Lower House), Sandra Honoré, the head of the UN Mission for Stabilization in Haiti (MINUSTAH) and several political figures, including former President of Haiti, Boniface Alexandre, the National Police of Haiti (PNH), celebrated her 19th birthday.

After a Eucharistic ceremony, Prime Minister Lamothe after the National Anthem, reviewed the various units of the National Police.

For more than 30 minutes, the various units of the PNH marched and performed several demonstrations to mark the day. The Prime Minister was full of praise on the PNH and promised the full support of his government to continue the professionalization of National Police "I want to reassure you that my government is working tirelessly so that the PNH is a well-trained police force modern and well equipped [...] Materials and equipment were provided to the police and significant efforts are underway [...] his is reflected on the ground by a considerable decline in banditry in the last twelve months."

The Head of Government took advantage of this commemoration to hand over the keys of 25 pick-up and 10 motorcycles to the PNH.

Godson Orélus provided an summary of the balance of the PNH, whose number has now reached 11.228 members emphasis on improving the security climate in Haiti, the strengthening of interventions of the National Police capabilities in particular at the level of the surveillance of territorial waters and the continuation of the urification process of the police institution "I invite all members of the institution to remain confident in the future, joint at their command, in solidarity between them, to become more involved in the process of professionalisation and modernization of the institution and in the fierce battle against insecurity."

For Godson Orélusthis 19th anniversary of the PNH is "a majority confirmed [...] The 19 years mean that the PNH has no longer the right to do things with trial and error and amateurism [...]"
