Haiti - Politic : Launch of Internship Program - Future Leaders of Haiti
Monday at the National Palace, President Michel Martelly, accompanied by his wife, Sophia Martelly officially launched the Future Leaders of Haiti Internship Program. The ceremony took place in the presence of François Guillaume II, the Minister of Haitians Living Abroad, Ambassador of Haiti in Washington, Paul Altidor, the Rector of the State University of Haiti, Jean Vernet Henry and some responsible of private university centers.

The internship program, which has just started under the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, whose the first promotion is called "Classe Anténor Firmin", also aims talented Haitian students and young professionals of Haitian descent living in the U.S. in order to involve the Diaspora in the development process of the country.

The choice of these interns was subjected to a rigorous selection process. 7 young people from Haiti were chosen among the top students in their respective universities. They will work in various sections of the Embassy of Haiti in Washington and have relationships with international institutions with which the Embassy cooperates. With respect to 6 students in the diaspora, they will integrate the Haitian Public Administration, to bring their contribution to the country in the sphere of their competence.

The Head of State congratulated all those who have contributed to the development of this program and invited them to replicate it at other universities both local and international.
