Haiti - Politic : Report of the trip to Washington of President Martelly 27/06/2014 11:02:51 In the presence of José Miguel Insulza, Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), the Rear Admiral Jeffrey Lemmons, Director of the Inter-American Defense College, of Duly Brutus, Minister of Foreign Affairs, of Major Lener Renaud, Minister of Defence and Ambassadors of Haiti in Washington, Paul Altidor, and to the United Nations, Denis Regis, the Head of State praised the excellent reputation of the CID in the training of military officers , police officers and civil servants, before congratulating the 55 students (whose 4 from Haiti) from 15 countries. Recall that this study program of 11 months, included courses on international governmental systems; the international political environment; the functioning of the inter-American system and the challenges to regional security. "The delivery of your diplomas today, reflects the culmination of the efforts you have made to meet the academic requirements of the College. 41 years after the Vice President of the United States of America, Lyndon B. Johnson, had handed their diplomas to the 29 officers of the First Promotion of the College, I feel honored to perpetuate such a beautiful tradition of sharing, cooperation and support," declared President Martelly that wished that back in their countries, these graduates will seek to achieve the overall vision of security, solidarity and regional cooperation. In addition, the Head of State took part in Wednesday morning in several meetings at the headquarters of the OAS. He first met the Inter-American Defense Board, then osé Miguel Insulza and finally attended the signing of the Inter-American Convention against Racism, racial discrimination and related forms of intolerance as well as the Inter-American Convention against all forms of discrimination. While recalling the great contribution of Haiti in the actuation, for the first time under the presidency of Alexandre Pétion, of the requirements of regional solidarity, the President of the Republic promises that his country continues to work in order to address key hemispheric issues which consist to ensure the defense and collective security of the continent, promoting regional cooperation and strengthening democracy and human rights.
