Haiti - Heritage : Restoration of Forts Jacques and Alexandre

Friday, Monique Rocourt, the Minister of Culture (MC), accompanied by Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries (MTIC) of Stefan Malebranche, Dirtector General of MC, Maryse Noel, Director General of MTIC, the Mayor of Petion-Ville, Ms. Jolicoeur Yvanka Brutus and Anel Prinston, CASEC of the commune, visited the Historical Park of Forts Jacques and Alexandre.

Through a partnership between the two ministries, works are in progress to restore this heritage site under the project management of the Institute for the Protection of National Heritage (ISPAN).

The Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, intends to ensure the care, management and restoration of this historic site.

The rehabilitation of an old school, used in time by the Ministry of Social Affairs for the training of members of the community, are almost complete. This school will serve for the training of managers among others, in the fields of heritage restoration, carpentry and the masonry traditional and modern.

Moreover, this same day, the two Ministers, accompanied by Jessie Menos, Secretary of State for Tourism, of Maryse Noel and Stefan Malebranche went to Fermathe to assess the renovation needed to make the Park of Fermathefunctional as soon as possible for the summer holidays.
