The Martelly administration and the Government Lamothe, at the listening of the population, concerned about giving immediate results, timely and responsive to the urgent needs of the population, increasing social interventions, particularly with regard to nutrition.

To this end, it sets up community restaurants and bakeries across the country: to reduce family expenditure, for those who eat a hot meal every two or three days; to ensure that those who can not afford a daily breakfast to eat at mid-day; for those who starve to prioritize feeding their child.

The installation of 23 community restaurants through Special Plans of the Île de la Tortue, Cite Soleil, Port-de-Paix and de Terre-Neuve, already feed near 12,500 people per daywho can get a hot meal for only 10 gourdes allowing beneficiaries to save their money and supplement their nutritional intake. Over 20% of the products used come from the local production of West and Artibonite. These restaurants in which the government invested $4.6 million gourdes per month helped to create to date more than 200 regular workers recruited directly from the communes concerned.

These 23 community restaurants reinforce the 302 community restaurants in function, already installed by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour (MAST) who spends 60 million gourdes per month and create 2,700 jobs.

Soon, sixty restaurants will be added across the country, and sixty community bakeries with a total capacity of 12,000 loaves per day.

Recall that in order to combat extreme poverty, from 2012to May 31, 2014, the "Kantin Mobile" program distributed 1,683,782 hot meals to the poorest and at the same time, the "Panye Solidarity" program distributed throughout the territory 1,476,948 food kits.
