Haiti - Insecurity : 241 people arrested in 56 days

Jean Francois Vezina, the spokespersonfor of the UN police in Haiti (UNPOL) said yesterday that 28 operations were conducted during the months of July and August in close collaboration with the Haitian National Police (PNH).
These operations which implied a total of 1.750 peacekeepers and 1.050 soldiers allowed to apprehend 241 people including ten ex-prisoners escaped actively researched and the seizure of several firearms.
Mr. Vezina recalled that these actions were made possible through the dispositions taken by peacekeepers and Haitian police to increase patrols in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince and Petion ville.
