Haiti - Diplomacy : 21-gun salute for President Martelly

Friday, at the invitation of the Ambassador of the Argentine Republic to Port-au-Prince, Marcelo Sebaste, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by among others of : President of the Senate, Simon Dieuseul Desras, the Commander of the Haitian Coast Guard, Joseph Jean Marie Wagnac and the Minister of Agriculture, Jacques Thomas, made a courtesy visit on the Argentine training ship, the "Fragata Libertad", calling at the harbor of Port-au-Prince, as part of 44th training travel of the "Guardimarinas en comision" of the Argentine Naval Military School.

President Martelly was welcomed aboard by the Captain of the ship, Admiral Marcos Henson and naval military attaché, Commander Bernado Noziglia and received military honors, accompanied by 21-gun salute.

The Head of State discussed with Captain Henson, of navigation, solidarity of the peoples of the region and greeted the 300 members of the crew, consisting mostly of students from the School of the Navy. Both men stressed the great contribution of Simon Bolivar in favor of the struggle for the independence of Latin American countries.

Note that Port-au-Prince is the second port where the Argentine frigate "Libertad" has accosted, in the region after his stopover in Havana (Cuba) before continuing his tour to Venezuela and Suriname and various other ports in the region.
