Haiti - Social : The 22 finalists for Miss Haiti 2014 are... 16/07/2014 11:18:18
Johanne Buteau, President of the Committee stressed "they are all very nice, it's sure, but more importantly, they have convinced us of their potential to worthily represent the country during the interviews." The 22 contenders for the crown, are now taken over by a team responsible to highlight them, enrich their abilities to shine their assets and those of the country, coach and teachers, but also makeup artists, hairdressers and expertise of L'Oréal Paris (Maybelline and Kérastase). The learning phase has already begun for these young women, through an intensive training program. Physical preparation of course with maintenance workshops and walk given by Magalie Racine, sports workouts and yoga classes offered by Ultimate Gym. Side general culture workshops lectures in the morning, during which the aspirants learn to discuss matters of national and international news, and meet with stakeholders in history, politics, etc... Other topics are on the program: Arts & culture, history of Haiti, food, etc...  For this edition, the competition budget is about U.S. $ 300,000 whose $ 50,000 will be provided by the Ministry of Tourism, very involved in a contest that "enhances the image of women and the image of Haiti," indicated Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries (MTIC). The Committee, composed of professionals from different sectors, has volunteered and is sparing no efforts to promote the contest which must now find other sponsors. "The tone is set at the level of professionalism and quality partners who offer us their services in exchange for visibility as Avis, Tortug'Air, Palm Residence or Pump it up, and hopefully attract the attention of other local businesses who have at heart the promotion of Haiti and the woman, and want to join a quality competition," declared Carine Beauvoir, coordinator of the Committee. "For us, it is essential that these finalists are also consistent with the reality of Haiti, that they are interested and engaged in good causes, that is why we chose to partner with for example - Restavek Freedom Foundation -," stated Kathleen Mourra, a member of the Committee who recalled that the Committee this year, sends a message to the youth protection around the slogan "Miss Haiti : Pou yon Ayiti sans Restavek". "It's this type of causes, but also the environment, with experience of recycling or a visit to the environmentalist Jane Wynn, to which we want to interest our 22 finalists."
