![]() Haiti - Humanitarian : $20M needed to close all camps 21/07/2014 11:22:24
Emmanuelle Deryce, OIM national leader of operation explained that 47,000 families out of 54,000 identifiedwere relocated through the Relocation Program of the IOM, which provides relocation assistance of 26,000 gourdes to each family. She revealed that from March to June 2014, 71 sites in which families still lived were closed and a relocation plan was underway for the remaining 7,000 families. Fabien Sambussy responsible for camp coordination to IOM reported that since 2010, the families from 1,500 camps have been relocated. Referring to the latest report published in June by the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11528-haiti-social-92-of-idps-have-left-the-camps.html she recalled that 103.565 displaced persons (± 28,000 families) still living in 172 camps scattered across the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince and the regions of Palms in the West Department. IOM, together with its partners, including OCHA and the Haitian government, plan to relocate all families living in the camps by the middle of 2015.
