Haiti - Politic : Haiti and the Dominican Republic promised to work together
Tuesday, President Michel Martelly accompanied by the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, with his Dominican counterpart Danilo Medina, sealed in the Dominican Republic, "the declaration of Punta Cana" with the support of European Council President, Herman Van Rompuy. The two countries promised that they will work to promote the strengthening of cooperation in various fields.

President Martelly said he believes that the presence of the President of the European Council, in Dominican Republic earlier this week in Haiti, is a proof of its determination to strengthen cooperation not only between the two countries, but with the European Union. Convinced that the two nations should learn a lot from the cross-border management in the European Union. He thanked the EU for its assistance in binational projects on trade, the environment, migration, customs, security and the fight against organized crime.

"The European Union is ready to share its experience in immigration, customs, border management and trade as well as to continue to provide assistance to the implementation of the agreements concluded in the framework of high-level dialogue binational," declared Van Rompuy who congratulated the Parliament and the government of the Dominican Republic for their initiative to pass a law on immigration. Without wishing to interfere in the internal affairs of the two countries, he said, believe that some problems require a humane solution "The European Union, your best friend will continue to support the efforts of both countries to strengthen cooperation."

Van Rompuy considered that the dialogue should be permanent and encouraged the Presidents of both countries to maintain focus on the necessary harmony and peaceful coexistence of the two sisters Nations.

"President Martelly, it's time to look us in the eye, to shake our hands and work together, for the strengthening of each of our country," declared yesterday the Dominican Danilo Median.
