Haiti - Security : Graduation of the 2nd Promotion of Police Commissioners 24/07/2014 11:29:19 In the presence of members of the Superior Council of the National Police (CSPN), the Legislature, the Judiciary, the Chargé d'Affaires ai, Canada Tristan Landry, the Diplomatic and Consular Corps, Representatives of Civil Society Organizations, Organizations international and the Minustah, the Head of State expressed his interest in the work performed by the Police Academy, which is, according to him, the proof that the Haitian National Police (PNH) works to strengthen the overall of its executives in order to make more efficient and professional the police institution. In his speech, President Martelley told to the new Commissioners "New responsibilities await you [...] Thanks to the higher level training that you have already received and your actual field experience, you will not fail to bring to body of maintenance and order, an additional skill thatwill make it moire efficient," he took the opportunity to remind the significant efforts made over the past three years by his Administration to provide additional resources to the various police stations in the country to accompany the various specialized units of the PNH. The President also emphasized on the hundreds of young men and women selected after competition and the training provided to strengthen the ranks of the PNH, not to mention the study trips and of development in the context of cooperation between Haiti and its international partners. He also recalled that the premises were built, upgraded and / or expanded in several regions of the country, new equipment and communications equipment and transport, were delivered to the police officers to facilitate their work. In his remarks for the occasion, Tristan Landry declared "Canada is proud to have contributed to the highly professional training of two promotion of 77 commissioners, including seven women [...] The Haitian National Police is a close partner, which Canada supports in the interest of ensuring the safety and protection of Haitian citizens. Since 2006, Canada has invested more than $111 million in the professionalization of the PNH, a key objective of the PNH development plan. [...] By funding the Initial Training and Professional Development for the Haitian National Police's Managerial Staff (FIPCA-PNH) project, which aims to train HNP managers and specialists, the Government of Canada continues to work hand in hand with Haiti, in an environment of mutual accountability, to maximize effective use of resources and the achievement of sustainable results [...]" To conclude, the senior officials of the Police insisted on the formation of a careful police that demonstrate leadership with the strong sense of duty and close to the people to bring peace and security to the Haitian families.
