From Monday, July 28, 2014, the exchange rate for the payment of services at the Embassy and service fees at the Consulate at Sogebank, will be set at 48 gourdes per dollar (U.S. $ 1.00).

"The Embassy is obliged to set an exchange rate slightly above current market value in order to offset local inflation and to ensure recovery of the true cost of providing consular services to customers.

The exchange rate premium is adjustedto handling charges normally assessed by a commercial currency exchange and is designed to ensure that the Department of State is able to collect in full the dollar-denominated fees for consular services."
