Haiti - Social : 3rd edition of the Festival of the Sea in Cap-Haitien
The U.S. Embassy in Haiti, announces a partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Industries, in order to give its support to the 3rd edition of the "Festival of the Sea", which runs from 1 to 3 August 2014 in Cap-Haitien on the theme "Protecting our Environment".

Recall that this festival highlights the links of Haiti with sea, promotes ecology, and encourages the development of tourism in the region.

As part of this partnership, the Embassy invited two American artists to take part in the Festival :

Solar Punch, is a rock band from Hastings-on-Hudson, New York. The group uses music to sing about science and the environment and holds workshops to help explain simple solar concepts and provide examples of where sustainable solutions are in use at locations around the world.

Team Sandtastic, is a Sarasota, Florida – based sand sculpting team. They turn ordinary piles of sand into living works of art.

On August 1-2, Solar Punch and Sandtatsic will perform on Cap Haitian Boulevard at Rue 17. Both groups will then perform on August 3 in Bas Limbe at Beach Caramel.

This program is sponsored by the U.S. Embassy as part of its ongoing Cultural Affairs programming. These programs support closer ties between the peoples of the two countries through shared music, fine arts, literature, theatre and sports.
