Haiti - Politic : The President of the Senate visited his Cuban counterpart

Monday, Senator Simon Dieuseul Desras, the President of the Senate and of the National Assembly of Haiti on a visit to Cuba, at a meeting with his Cuban counterpart, Esteban Lazo, thanked Cuba's solidarity for Haiti and stressed the quality of the Cuban cooperation for the reconstruction of Haiti, which sends a strong social message and hope for the world "Cuba and Haiti are twin Nations and the bilateral cooperation was unveiled with the lights of humanistic values of ​​revolutions that favor the brothers relationships."

While thanking the interest shown by the authorities of Cuba to his visit, Senator Desras stressed the importance of strengthening the friendship between the two Parliaments as instances of deliberations for the consolidation of democracy.

President Lazo reiterated the willingness of Cubans to continue to support Haiti, on the basis of full respect for its institutions and its laws, noting that Cuba paid a debt of gratitude to the nation that led the first revolution in Latin America and the Caribbean recalling "The Haitian Revolution (1791-1804), after several centuries of colonialism benefited the world and in particular to countries with populations of African origin."

Esteban Lazo also thanked Haiti for his steadfast support in favor of the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade, imposed by the United States against Cuba for over half a century.
