Haiti - Politic : Call for calm and strengthening of partnership between the State and Haytrac

On Monday, Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe met with the Minister of Public Works, the Director General of Electricity of Haiti (EDH), managers and investors of the company Haytrac around the strategic partnership between the State and the company, as part of its services of electrical energy delivered to the people of Les Cayes and Petit-Goâve.

An agreement was found between the Haitian government and the company Haytrac, supplier of power in the city of Les Cayes, to restore power in the city of Les Cayes and strengthen their partnership and extend it to other cities and communes of country.

The Ministry of Communication while denouncing dishonest and clumsy maneuvers of certain individuals who are trying to sow panic in the city of Les Cayes, wishes to clarify:

Following the instructions of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Economy and Finance has honored its commitments since Monday, August 4, 2014, to the Haytrac;

Under this agreement the Haytrac will continue to provide 18 hours of electricity per day to the city of Les Cayes;

Henceforth, Haytrac will handle the administrative structure in the marketing and distribution of electricity in the metropolis of the South, in the Nippes Department, the town of Petit-Goâve and its surroundings.

On instructions of the Head of Government, a working group on this partnership has been formed and will meet every two weeks to assess the progress of the partnership. This structure is responsible for defining strategies for improving services to consumers, and make more efficient and profitable the marketing system of Electricity of Haiti (EDH) in these cities, so that the service contracts can be beneficial to all parties.

The Ministry of Communication, launches an appeal for calm to the population of Les Cayes and asked not to be manipulated by an anti-democratic sector, which has no other purpose than to lead the country on the path of chaos.
