Haiti - Social : Identification of vulnerable families in the Department of Nippes

The implementation of the Action Plan for the Reduction of Poverty, launched May 13, 2014 by the Administration Martelly-Lamothe, requires the coordination of all state actors, international organizations and the whole Civil society, in order to establish a Unique Registry of Beneficiaries (RUB) of social assistance.

In order to provide support to the most vulnerable strata of the population throughout the country, the Government launched via the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES), its first mission in the department of Nippes, to select the recipients of social assistance, through transparency and recognized methods, with the assistance of national and international actors.

Investigating officers, equipped with a short questionnaire will travel the communes to collect socio-economic information among families. These informations will then be compiled and stored in a RUB, a database within the FAES, which will allow to classify families by level of vulnerability and grant aid of programs such "Ede Pèp" or from international organizations programs.

So far the census of 12 communes have already been completed : Boucan Carré, Thomassique, Saut d'Eau and Maissade in the Centre ; Belle Anse, Thiotte, Anse à Pitre, Cayes-Jacmel and Grand Gosier in Southeast ; Milot in the North ; Baie de Henne in the Northwest La Gonave in West.

Meanwhile, other survey will take place in poor neighborhoods of the Metropolitan Area of Port-au-Prince in the coming weeks.
