Haiti - Culture : Shakespeare in Haiti
This Wednesday, as part of a world tour to mark the 450th anniversary of the English poet and playwright, William Shakespeare, the "Globe on Tour production" company arrived in Haiti for a theatrical performance of "Hamlet" one of the most popular theater plays of the author. It was received to the diplomatic lounge of the Toussaint Louverture International Airport, by Ms. Émilie Jessy Menos, the State Secretary of Tourism and Creative Industries.

Thanks to the help of the Embassy of England, back in Haiti since 2013, "Dream Promo" and "Lakay International", Haiti is one of 202 countries to receive at home 12 UK players, that will share the stage for 2h40. The actors will present a fresh version of the classic Shakespeare just like the youth of the troupe. The Ministry of Tourism supports this approach, which is one of the many positive effects of the promotion of Haiti made abroad in tourism for more than two years. This opportunity is also a way for Haiti to restore relations with England.

Waiting for the "D" day, the company does not hide his excitement of playing Hamlet in Haiti for the first time for a new audience and find out the destination at the same time "I can not wait to go to Haiti," said comedian Beruce Khan before his departure. This is such a beautiful country and I'm really excited to meet the people there. [...]" His playfellow, the actress Miranda Foster added, "I am very happy to travel to Haiti !Although we will be there for only 24 hours, I hope I have time to go soak myself in one of the beautiful beaches of country !"

Note that the Dominican Republic and Jamaica are the next two countries that welcome at home "Globe on Tour production" for other performances of Hamlet.

This show will be presented in Haiti at the Karibe Convention Center Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 7:00 pm Special price for students.
