Haiti - Economy : Towards a harmonization of customs techniques

Within the framework of bilateral cooperation, Fresnel Jean-Baptiste, the Director of the General Administration of Customs (AGD) has participated in a seminar in the Dominican Republic, which was held under the theme "International customs techniques harmonized: Harmonized System, Customs valuation and Revised Kyoto Convention."

This seminar funded by the European Union, which was held at the Regional Training Center "Profesor Juan Bosch" of the World Customs Organization (WCO), attended by executives of customs agencies and border officials of both countries, treated in particular of international customs techniques in order to strengthen relations between the two countries in customs. The proper application of the Harmonized System, that must be present in any center of tariff classification has also been the focus of discussion.

"The Dominican Republic and Haiti are coordinating their efforts to include tools for improving customs systems, in order to improve marketing processes, transparency and rationalization of import and export of goods," this is what was stated in substance, José Polanco Gabino Deputy Technical Director of the Dominican Customs Directorate (DGA) adding, "This seminar is the concrete realization of agreements between the governments of Haiti and the Dominican Republic, seeking a higher level of coordination to achieve a fair mutual development."
