Haiti - Politic : Toward an important development project in the North
On Monday, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, met with Michaëlle Jean, the UNESCO Special Envoy for Haiti, on a mission in the country until September 2, around a major development project in the city of Cap-Haitien to enhance the tourism potential of the city and boost the economy of the region.

This development plan which is part of the vision of the Government Martelly/Lamothe to promote the historical heritage, archaeological and touristic of the country will also help to support the work of the Interministerial Committee for Territorial Development (CIAT) and will expand to the whole department and to the North East, particularly the city of Fort-Liberté which is a high place of our history.

To this end, international experts, from "Now Institute" of the "University of California in Los Angeles" (UCLA), working with Haitian authorities to develop a plan that meets the real needs of development of cities of Cap-Haitien, Fort-Liberté and Milot to contribute to the development of the region.

The plan includes among others the urban rehabilitation of neighborhood Shada t the entrance of Cap Haitien, which according to the wishes of the Government "should be the showcase of the city, one of the important poles of tourist destination." The Government is committed to define a special plan for this neighborhood, which will take into account the improvement of the living conditions of the population.

For these projects, including studies of master plans, to be conducted by the "Institute Now" together with CIAT, the Government will mobilize 200,000 USD and will that the proposals that will result, are implemented.
