The Support Programme to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (PAMCI), funded by the European Union, met through its Steering Committee, chaired by Wilson Laleau, the Minister of the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MCI) with the aim of strengthening the capacity of the Ministry, coordinate and implement a trade and industrial policy, allowing Haiti to create sustainable wealth for the benefit of the population.

Note that the PAMCI also aims to support the competitiveness and productivity of the Haitian economy through on the one hand the improvement of quality infrastructure and secondly, the introduction of micro-parks for boosting production sectors with high added value. Focusing on three main components: institutional strengthening of MCI; strengthening the quality infrastructure in Haiti and supporting the establishment and development of micro-parks.

At this meeting, Huguenel Alezi, Governor of PAMCI, took stock of the first Devis-Programme (DP1) :

• Initiation of the process of elaboration of the trade and industrial policy of MCI ;

• Establishment and operation of the Unit Statistics and Economic Studies (USEE) within the DEP ;

• Capacity building of executives of MCI regarding Multilateral Trade Agreements (ACM);

• The descriptive statistics of data processing using SPSS software ;

• The acquisition of office and computer equipment for the benefit of certain techniques and departmental directorates of the Ministry ;

• The production of documents in order to popularize ACM signed by Haiti ;

• The operationalization of the Haitian Bureau of Standards ;

• Capacity building of of SMEs / SMIs, including Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Regional.

Huguenel Alezi, made a brief presentation of the activities to be implemented under the DP2. The focus will be to continue some actions initiated in the DP1 and support the implementation of new activities to specifically allow the development of industrial micro-parks in three regions of the country.
