Haiti - Reconstruction : Haiti awaits much of the summit
According to a study of public relations firm Weber Shandwick the "Clinton Global Initiativ", which begins tomorrow Tuesday at New York, was considered as the most popular summit by leaders in 2009. Over the last five years, 1.700 commitments for an amount of $57 billion has improved the lives of 220 million people in over 170 countries, said the group "Clinton Global Initiative".

Former President Bill Clinton hopes, during this event, again put Haiti under the spotlight by holding a special assignment on the financing of this country alongside Haitian President Rene Preval and Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive. Bill Clinton hopes to press governments to keep their promises of billions of dollars in rebuilding Haiti.

More than 1,000 people are expected at this summit [where we will also speak about the Pakistan assistance] with President Barack Obama, business leaders, including Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates, NGOs and celebrities. Each participant to ensure his presence must pay $20,000 and the rules of the "Clinton Global Initiative" are clear any participant who does not or fails to honor its commitments no longer allowed to participate in this summit.

Clinton stresses that much money has been pledged for Haiti, but regrets that little has been confirmed. Almost all the money received was for the emergency phase is now recalling that Haiti enters its rebuilding phase and that the money promised is essential. Adding that the speed at which the reconstruction will depend on the whole of the regards on engagements on the international financial backers.

Ex-President recalled that at the beginning of "Clinton Global Initiative", the companies had coming trends and writing checks to humanitarians but today, many see their philanthropy action in terms of investment opportunities. Faced with this new approach, the former President Clinton said hopeful for the reconstruction of Haiti.
