Haiti - Politic : President Martelly alongside women living in rural areas
The President Michel Martelly, accompanied by Thomas Jacques, Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, Yanick Mézile, the Minister for Women's Affairs and Women's Rights, and Mimose Félix, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, in charge of promoting the peasantry, went Wednesday to Jérémie, on the occasion of the International Day of Rural Women.

In front of thousands of women gathered for the occasion, the mayor, the Departmental Delegate and members of the Party "Ayisyen Tèt Kale", the President Martelly described the Haitian women as the driving force of the economy. Also, he has decided to incorporate five associations of agricultural producers of Grand Anse in the agricultural credit program recently launched by the Ministry of Trade and Industry. The Head of State, who also distributed agricultural tools to members of women's associations, took the opportunity to take stock of the various achievements of his administration in this department.



For his part, the Minister Mézile, invited women living in rural areas to play their full role in the development of the country and wished a more just society based on the principles of gender equity.
