Haiti - Insecurity : Kidnapping, 1 dead, 1 injured in Morne Calvaire
Sunday morning, gunmen burst into the property of the architect George Mangonès in the district of Morne Calvaire in the hills of Petion-Ville. Alarmed, neighbors are intervened to rescue the family in danger. This unexpected intervention has created confusion among the assailants, who exchanged gunfire with the neighbors.

One of the men came to rescue has been killed, the architect was wounded in the foot and individuals have fled by kidnapping his wife, who is still in the hands of kidnappers.

Arriving at the scene a little later, the police could only see the drama. The cause of death of the neighbor is contradictory, some witnesses say the man was killed by the kidnappers, others say that the neighbor was the victim of errors by a bullet fired by one of his close.

The criminal acts are in increase these last days and the zone of Morne Calvaire formerly saved by violence, in recent months has faced a wave of crime that requires residents to organize militias for self-defense.
