Haiti - Diplomacy : Official tour of President Martelly in Europe

This Monday, President Michel Martelly, will leave the country for an official tour in Europe that will take him to Germany and France in order to strengthen trade ties, cooperation and friendship of Haiti with both countries.

The Head of State will be accompanied by the First Lady, Sophia Martelly, Duly Brutus, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wilson Laleau, Minister of Commerce and Industry, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce Franco-Haitian and some other members of the private business sector.

In Germany, the President Martelly will meet with his counterpart, Joachim Gauck and Chancellor Angela Merkel. He will meet with the members of the Conference of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Berlin. A meeting with the First Mayor of Hamburg, Mr Olaf Scholz, and an Economic Forum on Business Opportunities in Haiti are also provided on its agenda.

In France, the Head of State will have bilateral meeting bilateral meeting with President Francois Hollande. During his stay, the Haitian delegation will exchange with French entrepreneurs. President Martelly, will speak at the Tribune of UNESCO around his vision of education and culture. His stay will end with a visit to historic Fort de Joux (Doubs) where Toussaint Louverture was imprisoned in 1802 in a secret cell in which he died from lack of care, April 7, 1803.

The Haitian delegation will return home, Sunday, November 2, 2014.
