Haiti - Health : Sophia Martelly visited German hospitals

Sophia Martelly, the First Lady of the Republic met Wednesday at the Bellevue Palace in Berlin, Daniela Schadt, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Germany, in the framework of the official visit of President Martelly in this country.

The two First Ladies especially discussed progress in the country since the arrival to power of President Martelly. Ms. Schadt, who believes that many efforts have been made over the past three years in Haiti in order to improve the living conditions of the population, invites the current administration to continue this momentum.

Sophia Martelly, whose involvement in the social and particularly in health issues is obvious, had shortly before this meeting, visited three hospital centers in the German capital: the St. Gertrude Catholic Hospital, the Geriatric Hospital Evangelical Geriatriezentrum and Asklepios Klinik Altona Hospital. The visit of the latter center was an opportunity for officials to make her a demonstration of how put quarantine of patients with infectious diseases such as Ebola.

After this meetingheld in a very friendly atmosphere, the First Lady of the Republic invited her counterpart to stay in Haiti to discover the unique features of the first black republic in the world.
