Haiti - Economy : Mobilisation of the Diaspora Investment
Saturday in Atlanta, Francois Guillaume II, the Minister of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE) launched a caravan tour which will travel across five continents in the coming months. During this tour, the Minister will conduct a series of meetings in order to educate the diaspora on a better understanding of its integration and the possibilities and investment tools, set up by the administration Martelly and Lamothe government and disseminate relevant information allowing to to accompany all persons, organizations or institutions of the Diaspora who wish to bring their stone in the building of sustainable development and real of Haiti.

As part of the launch of this great tour, the Minister François Guillaume II, accompanied by the Consul General of Atlanta, Gandy Thomas, participated Saturday to the "Interactive Tour" Forum of the Haitian Hometown Associations Resource Group (HHTARG), in collaboration with the Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce of Georgia. An initiative that seeks to mobilize Haitians abroad to invest in Haiti in viable and profitable projects. This forum has the support of several organizations of the Diaspora and development organization such as the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

It is in this context, the MHAVE, has initiated discussions with private investment firms, so that the Haitian diaspora can invest its capital in socioeconomic projects important for Haiti.

The Minister Guillaume II explained "Our Nation is now at a historic crossroads and it is essential to clarify the perspectives of the commitment of the Haitian diaspora [...] The many advances in the current government in the areas of security, tourism and associated infrastructure, have incited the dynamism and the innovative approaches of my team at the Ministry, to work to generate a level of interest from the diaspora unprecedented. This level of interest is not to be taken lightly in its ability to transform the economic and political landscape of Haiti [...]" adding, "It is extremely important to understand the different priorities and interests of our diaspora and to be able to customize investment tools, that meet their main interests."
