Lesly Condé, Consul General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago, reminds the Haitian community, that Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014 brings the 211th anniversary of the Battle of Vertières, which did honor to the entire black race.

As part of his commitment to accompany all Haitian community organizations in their efforts, the Consular Mission, joins the Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti and other local organizations, to commemorate on

Saturday, November 15, 2014, this important date in the history of our country. This event will be held from 7:00 pm at Creole Kizin located at 2311 W. Howard Street, Chicago, Illinois. On the program: several speakers, patriotic songs, poems, musical entertainment. Snacks and refreshments will be offered.

Always to mark this important date, the Mission will also present on Sunday, November 16 on 1590 AM and www.1590haiti.com from 7:00 to 8:00 pm a special program dedicated to our brave ancestors. This show will be hosted by Jacques Frantz.

Furthermore, on Sunday, November 23, the faithful of all religious sensitivities are invited to a Mass to be celebrated in the memory of our martyrs of Vertières. After the religious ceremony at 5:30 pm at the Church of Our Lady of Peace located at 7801 South Jeffrey, Chicago, a reception will be held in the basement of the church.
