Haiti - Energy : 1 million in solar energy for the commune of Boucan Carré

Last Tuesday in New York as part of the 6th annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI). NRG Inc. company. in partnership with the NGO Solar Electric Light Fund (SELF) are committed to significantly expanding the use of solar energy to meet electricity needs in the commune of the Central Plateau of Haiti: Boucan Carré.

NRG will invest $1 million for the project "The sun lights the way" that seeks to provide clean electric power, safe and inexpensive. It's the Solar Electric Light Fund NGO (SELF), which designs and installs sustainable energy solutions in developing countries around the world who will be responsible for this project. SELF has already installed in September 2009, 10 kW hybrid (solar-diesel) for Zanmi Lasanté in a clinic in Boucan Carré, Haiti, since fuel costs have decreased by 64%.

This new project will provide solar photovoltaic electricity for water pumps, irrigation, schools, street lighting, a fish farm and other community centers and micro enterprises.
