Haiti - Telecommunication : Interference and fraud, towards a bilateral solution...
Jean Marie Guillaume, Director Genral of the National Council of Telecommunications (CONATEL), at the head of delegation recently visited the headquarters of the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (INDOTEL), in order to meet his counterpart Dominican Gedeon Santos, as part of a workshop on interference caused by mobile telephony and audiovisual services and telephone fraud. He also discussed the transition from analogue to digital television.

At the end of this two-day meeting, CONATEL and the INDOTEL defined a draft work agenda and discussed of an Protocol of Agreement between the two countries. Both institutions have decided to work on the implementation of a joint program to find solutions to these problems caused by illegal activities of fraudsters from both countries, against the interests of the telecommunications sector.

Mr. Guillaume, said he was satisfied with this mission emphasizing that "Efforts must be made and action must be taken together to find a solution to the problems faced by our two institutions," stating "there is still exist effective solutions to technical problems."

For his part, Gedeon Santos, said he was confident that the collaboration with his Haitian counterpart, will allow to quickly find lasting solutions to these problems.
