Haiti - Education : Literacy, toward a new agreement with Cuba

Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) recently reviewed the achievements to date of the literacy campaign on the national territory, at a meeting with Ricardo García, the Cuban Ambassador, together they also analyzez the new cooperation agreement to be signed between the ministries of Education of both countries.

To continue the theme, they agreed for a new meeting with the Joint Steering Committee established in February 2014 by Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, to provide strategic and technical advice to the sixth phases of the literacy campaign that Cuban realize in Haiti.

This committee is composed of Nesmy Manigat, Ricardo García, Rose Anne Auguste, Minister Delegate, Responsible for Human Rights and the Fight Against Poverty Extreme, the leader of the tripartite Office, José Arañaburo; and of the the Brigade of Education, Luis Eyén Reina.

During the meeting, Manigat and García have been informed that Cuban advisors identified in diagnoses made since August 76.456 illiterate and formed 1,062 facilitators, trainers and supervisors in the Cuban literacy program Wi mwen kapab" and "Aprann".
