Haiti - Agriculture : Launch of the irrigation project of the second plain of Petit-Goâve

Wednesday, Felix Solomon Jeune, who represented the Deputy Jacques Thimoléon Stevenson, President of the Lower House, in the presence of local authorities, the agronomist Paul Jackson and many peasants from different localities proceeded to the official launch of the irrigation project of the second plain of Petit-Goâve.

The rehabilitation works of agricultural infrastructure, which will take place over 48 days at a cost of 25 million gourdes include 3 phases: cleaning of canals; treatment of watersheds and repair of pumps in order to supply water to arable land. This project aims to increase local production and improve the living conditions of farmers by giving them more purchasing power.

In his speech, Felix Salomon Jeune declared, "We look forward to the implementation of this project that will not only create jobs but also allow the comune of Petit-Goâve to still be the attic of the country [...] the project managers have already hired a thousand peasants. We thank the Deputy Thimoléon for his dedication, because it was through his efforts that the second plain enjoys this irrigation project."
