As part of the 34th "Thursday of Public Governance", the National School of Administration and Public Policies (ENAPP) organizes in partnership with the Support Program for Strengthening of Public Management (PARGEP), a panel discussion around the theme "public health and governance: what the health system for Haiti ?"

According to the World Health Organization, to work, a health system needs among others : well-trained human resources in sufficient numbers, financial resources, infrastructure, equipment including medical devices. In addition, public authorities must take action in order to design a systems able to cope with for example health crises, prevent certain diseases and to fight against others, and provide some social protection. In short, it is necessary to put in place a real public health policy.

In the context of the Reform of Public Administration and face the various constraints (political, fiscal, economic...) what is the policy of the Government of Haiti in the field of public health ? What are the issues ? How is organized the health system ? How is it funded ?...

The panel discussion animated by Dr. Junot Félix, Specialist in Health Management System, Professor of Strategic Planning and Quality Management at the Higher Specialized Studies Diploma (DESS) from the Faculty of Medicine, will try to find answers to these questions by addressing in particular :

• The history of Haiti's health system ;

• The organization of the system ;

• The Ministry of Public Health and the core functions of the system ;

• The regulation of the system and its legal framework ;

• The financing of the system ;

• The challenges and opportunities.

This panel discussion will be held Thursday, December 11, 2014, from 9:00 to 11:00 at the Conference Room of the ENAPP located at 15 street Débussy, Turgeau.
