Haiti - News Flash : State of emergency in Port-au-Prince
Following the violent storm that hit Port-au-Prince and its suburbs yesterday afternoon, the Direction de la Protection Civile has activated its Emergency Operation Centre Departmental to coordinate the response and mobilized its representative at camps. Priorities were identified at the shelter and response mitigation works in the camps where the water does not evacuated.

The Direction de la Protection Civile is distributing emergency shelter to the affected population in three camps and the organization is in progress.

UNICEF also mobilized 1,000 blankets for the camps of Carradeux where 931 children were affected.

4 hospitals were damaged and flooded, most are operational and have increased their staff to cope with the influx of wounded. MSF Holland Hospital is damaged but it works, the center of MSF Belgium is fully functional but has reported an increase in patients. The hospital de la Paix it was unable to function due to flooding. Clinics located at Camp Golf Club Petionville were washed away. The hospital of the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) at Carrefour reported to have suffered no structural damage and has put additional personnel on standby.

Minor damage was reported in Leogane and Petit Goave. The bridge of the latter being affected. However, the main concern is Port-au-Prince.
