Haiti - Economy : Haitian businessmen, fear violence and chaos

"Haiti Cherie" a Haitian businessmen Group, composed of entrepreneurs and business leaders which include : Shérif Abdallah, Marc-Antoine Acra, Reuven Bigio, Kerly Blain, Christopher Handal, Stanley Handal, Gaëtan Jérôme, Steeve Khawly, Jean Lucien Ligondé, Franck Romain Jr., Réginald J.M. Vorbe, and Allan Zuraik, while welcoming the efforts of the Head of State to maintain the stability of institutions, urges all stakeholders of the national life to work in the same spirit of patriotic sacrifice in order to maintain social peace.

Pierre Antoine Louis, Executive Director of the businessman Group calls on all parties to avoid recourse to violence and chaos as political instruments, stressing that only political stability is likely to contribute to the consolidation of acquired, among others the the improvement of the image of the country abroad, the increase of local and foreign direct investment, the creation of jobs and economic growth.

A call that does not seem to have be heard by the radical opposition and Fanmi Lavalas, who announced that there will be no truce for the holiday season. Intending disrupt economic activity during this period and announce demonstrations for 24 and 25 December and 1 January 2015.
