Haiti - Education : Graduation of the 15th promotion of physicians of the University Lumière
Tuesday at the Karibe Convention Center, the President Michel Martelly, participated in the graduation ceremony of the 15th promotion of physicians of the University Lumière (ULUM) of the Evangelical Baptist Mission of South Haiti.

In the presence of Rev. Jean Chavannes Jeune, Rector of the ULUM, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Frantz Cornely, graduated, their relatives and friends, the Head of State first thanked the Faculty of Medicine, to have chosen him as honorary sponsor of the promotion "Dr Frick Thimothée" (2007-2014). He also greeted the 36 recipients for the new mission they have to promote, preserve and help patients to regain their health.

Addressing the new physicians, President Martelly declared "Know that the degree you get today is not an end in itself. This is an important tool that is given to you to face life with dexterity," highlighting the extent of such trade whose place in people's lives is paramount.

For his part, Rev. Jean Chavannes Jeune, affirmed that this 15th promotion marks 21 years of struggle of the ULUM in the health sector in Haiti. He recalled the route of the institution and delivered the perspectives for the coming years. He concluded by commending the University Lumière, which, according to him "continues to encourage excellence and propose values on the market."

The Head of State, while having a special thought for the 27 students and a teacher of the university Lumière, who lost their lives in the January 2010 earthquake, has encouraged the formation and multiplication of qualified health professionals in order to overcome the insufficient number of physicians in Haiti.
