Haiti - Petit-Goâve : End of over 3 day blackout and demonstrations...

Sunday because of a blackout that lasted since last Thursday, for lack of fuel, the town of Petit-Goâve was completely paralyzed with barricades and burning tires by an angry population that demanded the return of electricity...

The automobile traffic was completely blocked on the national road #2 at Séadote market, at the Grand-rueand the avenue Gaston prolonged... "As long as we do not have electricity, public roads will remain closed to traffic," have reported exasperated residents. The police intervened with caution, due to the significant anger of the population...

However, unidentified individuals threw stones against the police, who used tear gas at Borne soldat.

In the morning, Joseph Lambert, Deputy Delegate fo the arrondissement of Léogâne has guaranteed to the responsible of the Bloc of Democratic Opposition (BOD) [affiliated to MOPOD] that the power would be restored in the afternoon, saying that a truck will bring fuel in the day and by 7:00 pm the town of Petit-Goâve will have electrical energy.

In fact, the electricity was restored around 3:00 pm, earlier than expected, after 3 days in the dark, insecurity and demonstrations...
