Haiti - Politic : New Year Message of Sandra Honoré
Sandra Honoré, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Haiti, present to the Government and the people of Haiti her best wishes for the new year is of serenity, sharing and peace for all Haitians. The Special Representative hopes that "2015 will also be the time of the realization of collective efforts to ensure social cohesion, recovery and sustainable development of the country."

Mrs Honoré welcomes on that occasion the courage of the Haitian people, who is striving to overcome the daily challenges, and the dignity with which it strives to build a stable, inclusive and prosperous society.

Stressing that despite that the elections scheduled this year could have been organized, 2014 ends on promising gestures of good will on both sides, such as endorsement by the President of the Republic of recommendations of the Presidential Consultative Commission set up on his own initiative, the appointment on December 25 of the new Prime Minister and the signing of the tripartite agreement between the three main branches of government around the pre-electoral crisis. The Special Representative notes these developments with satisfaction and encourages all parties to continue to engage with the support of the Haitian people in the implementation of the remaining recommendations of the Consultative Commission and the provisions of the Tripartite Agreement, taking into account the proximity of the 12th of January 2015.

Mrs Honoré "wishes that in 2015 the institutional renewal process in the country is consolidated and comes reassure minds," and reiterates the continued commitment of the Minustah with the Government and the Haitian society as a whole, in order to capitalize on the humanitarian achievements and strengthen those obtained in stabilization and development.
