Haiti - Diaspora : Commemoration of the 5th anniversary of 12 January 2010

The Consulate General of Haiti in Chicago reminds the whole community, as January 12, 2015 brings the 5th anniversary of the earthquake of January 12, 2010 Day of Commemoration and Reflection.

Lesly Condé, the Consul General recalls that "12 January 2010 is turning point in our national life. It is present in all our future plans and our reconstruction efforts."

On this occasion, the Consular Mission will pay a punctual tribute in memory of the victims of this historic tragedy, through several events :

On Saturday, January 10, at the Evening of Unity presented by the Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti in collaboration with the Consulate of Haiti in Chicago.

On 11 January, at the Haitian classical music recital presented at 3:00 pm at the Second Unitarian Church by the Crossing Borders Music Collective group in memory of victims of January 12.

Also the same day, from 5:30 pm, during a religious ceremony at the Church of Our Lady of Peace, located located at 7801 South Jeffery, Chicago.

Monday, January 12, during the evening of Remembrance organized by the Haitian American Lawyers Association of Illinois.

The Consul General, Lesly Condé rely on the solidarity of community members to participate in these commemorative events.
