Haiti - Politic : «Today I repeat it enough is enough !» dixit Michel Martelly
Monday, President Michel Martelly and his wife Sophia Martelly, members of the government, the diplomatic and consular corps, went to St-Christophe to deposit a wreath at the monument erected in memory of the victims of earthquake of January 12, 2010.

The ceremony of honor the victims, was punctuated by moments of contemplation, circumstantial songs, testimonies and Peace and solidarity messages. In this moving occasion, the President Martelly delivered a speech tinged with emotion.

Excerpt of Speech of President Martelly :
"[...]

Today January 12 for me and many of my compatriots, it is a day of sadness, mourning, a day when many people think about what happened to those who are gone, those who have become disabled... 35 seconds... and then the life of us all has changed, the country has lost a lot, but at the same time, January 12th is a day that shows once again that we deserve the title of first black people on Earth.

January 12 shook us, threw us, but did not let us down.

After January 12, we stand more straight, to fight with life.

In the days that followed, solidarity came from all over to come and join us us Haitians who were already on the ground, with clamps, spikes, nails, with our hands.

We have at this moment forget our own person, what we had lost, to help a neighbor, a colleague, an unknown.

Every life saved was a victory.

Each child pulled from the rubble was a joy.

That is why I have a special thought for all health professionals, many of them were victims, they were there to rescue, all the firefighters, police officers who remained at their posts despite everything, all volunteers, all friendly countries, all the heroes that history does not mention who braved the dangers to help another fellow. We did not need to know where he lived, what political party, how much money he had...January 12, there was no Lavalas, no Macoutes, senators, deputies, white, black, of Pitit Dessalines, of Pitit Pétion, nor people from above or from below, all Haitians were victims and all Haitians helped each other without discrimination. There were Haitians who were helping their brothers and sisters. We were there for each other because we were all in danger, we were one people...

[...]

While scientists predict that there could be other such events, if not worse that can hit us anytime, we ask the question : Are we ready ?

Today I think we can have differences in how we think, in our ideology, but there was one thing that is important is : what do we do ?

We have responsibilities as a leader, as a citizen, to agree to make the decisions that are best for the country. I want to continue to believe that the Haitians want that Haiti advances.

But often the way they choose to do so does not really help the country.

When a person is burning tires on the road to demand changes, he wants the country changes. But we must understand that it does not act in this direction [...] because when there is no road or roads are blocked, the countries back [...]

That is why today, I do the same gesture, I reiterate my appeal to all consistent Haitians, all Haitian believer in change [...] to see how we can change the way we want to solve the country's problems.

[...]

The country already has enough problems, that is why I will continue to do everything possible to find a way out of the crisis.

[...]

In the last four years, there are Haitians who have shown that this is not the progress of country that interested them, ask them what they have done really to improve living conditions.

In the past four years, if all the energy that was spent to break, doing demonstrations... if all this energy was used for the education of children, young people, make proposals that are in line with stability and progress, take concrete action for the country, in truth, we would be well forward, the people would live in better conditions.

[...]

We have existed for 211 years, we exist as a people, people we honor whose history retains their name, these are people who have left their legacy works, both in the political, cultural or social... Martelly, Prime Minister, senators and deputies, the opposition will have to go, the only thing that will remain is the country with the legacy we will leave to our grandchildren. What we will leave today ? What we want to leave for our children tomorrow ? What country we want to leave them ?

These are the questions I ask you to answer, ask yourself.

I am engaged in politics, because that is not what we are, belonging to a class, that shows we love the country. It is the will to work to enable the country's situation to change, so that every Haitian becomes better.

I do my campaign on the need to change the way we do politics, politics with long delaying speech, which is based on the division of the empty chair, of maroons, rache manioc... I think it is necessary that those who decided to become leaders, do it with consciousness, the consciousness for a people suffering, for two million children who must go to school, for parents who need to work... no long I said enough is enough https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12851-haiti-politic-enough-is-enough-now-it-s-the-time-to-gather-dixit-michel-martelly.html !

Today I repeat it enough is enough !

Let us give the country a chance, on behalf of all the victims who have left us there five years.

This is not only the 'Goudou Goudou' who killed them, but also a lack of vision of development that has not been there for many years.

Haiti's problems, it is the Haitians who must solve them by creating ways to develop a project of equal society, a society that allows all children to live well, a society built on respect for each and other.

This can not be done in a five-year term, we must lay the foundation for the successors continue what has begun.

One person will not succeed, we must all unite.

This is what makes today I greet political parties that signed the agreement with the Executive. I send a big hats off to all those leaders, who put aside personal and partisan interests for the country.

I thank them and told them that history will remember [...]

Partisan or opponents, I tell you 'Tèt Frèt', 'Tèt Frèt' for Haiti, let the street to children who go to school, go to work, right now, Haiti needs Peace, Peace to advance, the peace so that investors continue to come into the country, Peace so that we will continue to fight poverty.

Build the country can not be done in the street.

Opponents, partisans leave the street.

'Tèt Frèt', let's construct peacefully.

I ask to the population of remain calm.

Je fais un appel à tous les haïtiens conséquents, let's put together and even if we do not agree on all things, to accept to put Haiti foremost, Haiti forever.

Thank you."
