On the occasion of the commemoration of the 5th anniversary of the 2010 earthquake, the Government and people of Brazil are united to the brotherly people of Haiti, to reaffirm their sense of deep sorrow and solidarity to the country's reconstruction task.

In this moment of remembrance and renewal, the Brazilian Government through its Embassy in Haiti, urged in a note "[...] The people of Haiti, through its democratic institutions, to unite around the project of consolidation of a democratic and prosperous Haiti. This union will allow to overcome many challenges still there so that the country can ensure security and stability to all its citizens, and a favorable environment for economic activities, investment and international cooperation, which will generate jobs, opportunities and a vision of future for all Haitians.

The Brazilian Government therefore hope, at present, that political leaders and the Haitian society quickly find the formula that will allow the rapid resumption of efforts for the benefit of the Haitian nation, according to the rules of democracy, in full respect of the Constitution and within the established institutions in recent years by the people of Haiti.

In its continued solidarity and commitment to the cause of a stable and democratic Haiti, the Brazilian Government remains available to the country to do everything possible to help, according to the sovereign will of the Haitian people and in consultation with other country partners and friends who share the same objective."
